Summary:
Global warming is a large problem. Temperatures have been slowly increasing over the last decade, thought to be due to human action. Things such as use of gasoline and burning of fossil fuels is a large cause for this. The gases emitted trap heat from the sun and trap it in the atmosphere, causing temperatures to increase over time. One of the largest concerns is that polar ice caps will end up melting causing sea levels to rise. Cities that are close to sea level are at great risk, along with the 634 million people living in these cities.
Reflection:
I have always seen global warming as a big problem. Seeing as we live in San Diego, we could just as likely be affected by this due to being coastal. Some parts of San Diego could potentially be lost, most likely our beaches and possibly some homes build near the beach. Continents will also shrink slowly over time as more and more glaciers melt. Because this problem was caused by humans, this problem will to be resolved by humans. It will not fix itself. I would say that we must educate the common citizens about this problem to make sure that the burning of fossil fuels and carbon dioxide emissions will be lowered. It will take a team effort to fix this, and everybody will have to participate.
